A car rental company that makes its money from people who rent their cars online, but not necessarily by car, is in trouble.
The California Department of Motor Vehicles has suspended its license to CarRental.com.
The state Department of Licensing and Regulation said the company is in violation of the rules for a new car rental website that’s in business in the Golden State.
The company’s website is a directory of rental car companies in the Bay Area.
The DMV said the DMV “has been made aware of a company, CarRocker.com, which appears to have violated the vehicle-rental rules for this site.”
The company’s manager did not respond to a request for comment on Friday.
The department’s website says it was founded in 2014, and the company’s first business was renting cars to customers.
It also says the company has “a very high turnover rate.”
A DMV spokeswoman said the agency could not comment on individual cases, but “we do not believe these types of violations are uncommon.
If you are looking to rent a vehicle, you should contact the rental company directly to find out the details on the car you’re interested in.”
